Are you feeling stuck because of your trapped emotions? Do you always struggle to find the way to express your inner feelings? Do you feel that there could possibly be some unknown reason behind your pains and aches?
If you answered to at least one of the above questions, then your are probably at the right place.
We experience various positive and negative emotions throughout our lives. Life is an incredible journey which has both good and bad times. We encounter variety of emotions like happiness, sadness, anger, guilt, shame and so on.
Every emotion leaves an impact on our energy, on our body. Some emotions are mild whereas some are very strong. Imagine the impact of failing an exam, losing a promotion, getting a divorce, felling unwanted or unappreciated. If not dealt with wisely, these emotions leave a scar on our emotional body. These emotions consequentially show up in the form of various illnesses.
Therefore, unpacking this emotional baggage is essential. No one can be happy in the present moment until he has made peace with his past.
Releasing our trapped emotions helps us to feel lighter. As a result, it encourages us to focus on our important tasks. Consequently, it ensures our emotional, mental, spiritual and physical well-being.
Some of the emotions are triggered with recurring events in life. Suppose you got upset because your superiors treated you unfairly at work. Now it is not easy to handle this kind of event because you repeatedly feel upset every time you face your superiors. At the same time, it is a disturbing emotion which prevents you from concentrating on your work. While handling such emotions, it is important to understand that no person or event has any power to hurt us unless we allow them to do so. Hence, it is not that person or the event but our reaction to them which makes us feel hurt.
Today I will share one amazingly simple and beautiful exercise to release your trapped emotions. Here it is –

Step 1 – Find the root cause

 This seems like the most difficult step. But it is not. One way to find the real cause behind our emotions is to recall the situation that gave rise to the feelings. Recollect everything in detail. This might feel very uncomfortable to some people depending upon the severity of that situation. But trust me, this discomfort won’t last long. By the time you finish this exercise, it would be gone.

Step 2 – Sense your emotions in your body

You can do this with eyes open or closed. Keeping eyes closed will increase your concentration. While you are recalling your memories as if you are watching a movie, observe your body parts as much as you can. If you feel any pain or uneasiness in any of your body parts like head, shoulders, neck, stomach; acknowledge it. Every organ in our body is connected to one of our Chakras. With this step, you can find our which Chakra is having imbalance and you can use other methods to balance your Chakras. I will write about Chakras in detail in my upcoming article.

Step 3 – Breathing exercise

Close your eyes and pay attention to that area of your body where your felt discomfort. Now inhale slowly. While imagining that a black coloured gas is getting released, exhale slowly. This black colour represents the toxins stored in our body in the form of trapped emotions. Additionally, you can also use following affirmation.
“I release all that no longer serves me. I now feel free and light.”
Continue this step until you feel that all the pains and uneasiness in your body has reduced. You can do this step every time you feel anxious or nervous.
This simple exercise will help you release your trapped emotions. I have always witnessed good results whenever I used it and the best thing about this exercise is you can do it anytime and anywhere. You don’t any special place, time, instrument or music. What you need is calm mind which is not disturbed by any social connection for at least 15-20 minutes.


Use Affirmations

Once you started feeling lighter with this exercise, you need to maintain that serenity in future. For this purpose, you can use positive affirmations. I always start and end my day with affirmations. It gives me a boost of energy and calmness at the same time. You will find many positive affirmations over internet and all of them are good. Select those which are suitable in your situation. I will share some of my favourite affirmations. These are given by Louise Hay, a renowned motivational speaker and founder of Hay House.

1. All is well in my world. I am safe.

2. I am always protected by divine love. I am safe and secure.
3. I release my past now. I forgive everyone in my past for all perceived wrong and release them with love.
4. I forgive myself and set myself free. I now choose to release all hurt and resentment.
5. Life supports me in every possible way. Every experience I have is perfect for my growth.
6. I accept my power. Every decision I make is the right one for me. No person, place or things has any power over me.
7. Life brings me only good experiences. I am open to new and wonderful changes.
8. I am worthy and now receptive to all the good and abundance in the Universe.
9. I have a wonderful relationship with my family members, friends and co-workers. I am appreciated.
10. I am in the right place, at the right time doing the right things. I choose to make the rest of my life the best of my life.
